Easy Does It

What does this really mean?  We hear it all the time, but it isn’t always clear when it applies.

Sometimes “easy does it” just doesn’t feel right.

I think the most important thing to remember is that we can’t afford to overreact to every little thing. It’s easy to do, and it can, in a way, become a bad habit.  If you find you have a hair-trigger temper much of the time, that’s a good time to sit back and take a look at what’s going on.

Ever feel like you are a hamster on one of those little wheels?  Yup. That’s another good time to say easy does it.  If you are just winding yourself up at the top of the day then not taking time to reflect and consider your behavior, you run the risk of burning yourself out.

I think easy does it is just a good reminder that we can’t be everything to everybody, and we can’t work miracles. Sometimes you have to ask for help. Sometimes you have to say, “No. I can’t do that right now.”
